Small Arms - J.E. Evans of Philadelphia Percussion target/dueling pistol, manufactured approximately 1840, .52 caliber, steel trigger guard with fancy floral engraving finished off with a pineapple at top, steel breach and sideplate with floral engraved details signed "J. E. EVANS," dark walnut stock with finely checkered grips, 9-1/4 inch octagonal barrel with floral engraving at nipple, no serial number available. A wonderful early American Percussion pistol for the person who wants one half of a dueling set. Includes a faux suede travel/storage case.
CONDITION:
Good action; fine-plus overall cosmetic condition, good smooth bore, deep brown patina to barrel with light wear at high edges, numerous small dings on frame and barrel as well as scattered areas of oxide, pitting and finish loss to side plates; trigger guard with light pitting and fine scratches.
